Why hello, I am Lisa, a photographer, a daughter, a sister, a aunt, a fiance, a lover of coconut, and a creative artist. These are the things that define me.

My blog is where I am going to share my latest work, my personal life and things I just want to have out there. Photos will be a constant on this blog - that is for sure.

Welcome to my World D700

August 25th, 2010

I was sitting at work all day Tuesday wondering when my D700 was going to get dropped off at my house – watching my phone to see if my mom text me the news.

Then it happened. I got the text. I had to wait 3 more hours until I could hold this beautiful piece of equipment. When I did, I was pleased. It’s just as beautiful in person as it is on the internet.

I haven’t had any shoots in the past two days so today I took the camera across the street and took a few photos.

For all the sessions coming up – watch out – the D700 is here!!

My beautiful ring <3

A friendly neighborhood dragonfly.

I was also testing out some Kubota presets I bought the other day – I have to work with them some more, but I like what I see so far.

William {Three Months}

August 22nd, 2010

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photography my first baby boy! It was super exciting to get to see the differences between him and all the girls I’ve been shooting!

William was an absolute doll. He actually LAUGHED every time my flash went off – it was honestly perfect. He did everything perfectly – a sweet little model (mom and dad might have to get him into that profession).

I had a blast and couldn’t wait to share some of my favorites from the day! Hope you enjoy!!

Cutest little boy, right? He was honestly like this the whole entire time (almost).

He sure does love his mama and papa!

A perfect expression.

Love this one of William and his daddy!

Just a perfect little gentlemen.

He had SO many different expressions – I <3 it!

Tummy time!

William was just concerned about getting his picture taken! Every time mom and dad were in the shot he got upset!

I’m always around girls that I’m not use to the cute little boy clothes! Love these shorts!

This pillow = perfection!

Love him with his mom and dad’s hands.

Mr. Bright eyes – always looking at me.

THANK YOU Erin and Jefferson – for allowing me into your beautiful home and capturing William just as he is – a sweet, precious little boy.

Summer Winds …

August 18th, 2010

If you didn’t get a chance to step outside today – you have no idea what you were missing.

Today are the days outdoor living is made of.

Today gave Mickey another opportunity to chase those pesky bunnies away.

Mickey caught in the act. Even the bees had to stop and smell the roses. I will desperately miss my mother’s garden in the winter.

Happy Beautiful Day to all of you!!

Black and White Photos – Gotta Love Them

August 14th, 2010

I have always been a fan of black and white photos. This is actually something my mom and I disagree on. She doesn’t understand it. She lived in a world where at one point that’s all you were able to get – black and white. Now, there’s color – actually, a lot more then just color. She wants to take advantage of that. I, on the other hand, want to live in the past.

Black and white photos create moments. It doesn’t go well with every photo, but when you get it right – it’s magical.

Here are some of my favorite black and white photos that I took in the past couple of months.

This ended up being one of my favorite shots from Gabby’s new born photos.

I love how black and white can take a moment and back it that much better.

It can take something so nature and turn it into something so beautiful.

Something simple turned into magical.

A moment that truly feels captured in time.

Something cute and sweet into something mysterious.

I do have a lot more favorites but I figured a sample was enough. I’m not going to lie, I love that fact that I have a choice.  Black and white photos are magical BUT I wouldn’t want to live in a world where we couldn’t capture the color as well.

The Hucal Family {Family Preview}

August 8th, 2010

This post was just way too hard to figure out. There were so many different shots with so many different people, I just didn’t know what to put in the blog,

I decided to try a little bit of everything (with a small emphasis on the boys).

This weekend I was asked by my co-worker (and friend) to come to her house and take some family photos. There would be 10 adults, 2 kids and 4 dogs. I was up for the challenge.

I’m not gonna lie -  I was a little nervous BUT everything turned out GREAT. The Hucal’s were incredibly nice and welcoming and the kiddos were extra adorable. We had a blast!

Here are some favorites from the day!

Meet the ‘H’ Fam!

Love this!

Michelle and her sweet little boys.

How cute is that face?!

One of my favorites! LOVE everything about this image.

Owen wanted a picture with Spot!

Another photo of everyone – the dogs did so well!

Have to get one with each set of grandparents!

Now one with just mom and dad.

How adorable are these boys?!

I’m telling you, these dogs were SO well behaved – love it!

The dogs were posing right along side their owners!

What little boys DON’T like fishing?

Testing out the waters.

Sweet little Ethan.

Mother and Daughter

The beautiful Hucal ladies.

Owen was trying super hard to catch a fish (next time we’ll remember worms).

Meanwhile – Ethan was trying to skip some rocks.

Bubble time!

Might be my favorite photo from the day – Michelle, you look gorgeous here. SUCH a sweet image of mother and son.

Thank you Hucal family!! I had a blast coming into your home and taking such wonderful family photos. Can’t wait for you to see them all!

Cameron and Mike {Engagement Preview}

August 5th, 2010

This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking Cameron and Mike’s engagement photos.

As soon as they stepped out of the car, Mike grabbed Cameron’s hand and they walked toward me – together.

This is how every shoot should begin- with a little dash of love.

I love engagement sessions because it allows me to get to know the couple before their big day.  The three of us had a great time (even though a lot of couples and families had the same idea that day). We roamed around Mills Race (Northville, MI) and we came out with some fabulous photos.

Congrats Cameron and Mike! I hope you enjoy your preview! Can’t wait for the wedding next Spring!

Seriously? They ooze cuteness, right?

Cameron – you are gorgeous!

Love the the ’sweet love’ they are showing each other here.

Cam! I love this one of you!

You both have fabulous smiles. Period.

How fun is this image?

This is what I got when I said ‘Give me a serious look.’ Ha! I love it!

See Cameron?! You can TOTALLY work it!

Can you find Cam and Mike?! LOVE this wall!

Mike, you were rocking this photo session too!

Gotta love some bling.

Mill Race seriously has some beautiful areas. What a great location.

Cameron and Mike – Thank you so much for allowing me to document this special time in both of your lives! Next Spring is going to be a blast!

Viva Catania {2010 Catania Cookoff}

August 2nd, 2010

This past weekend was the annual Catania Cookoff – half reunion/half killer food.

I have been lucky enough to attend many cook-offs (even winning a few times). This one was extra special though, special enough for many requests that I bring my camera. This cook-off included almost everybody (I say almost in case I’m forgetting someone). Lots of out of towners were in and ALL seven of Grandpas great- grand kids were there.

The food was great but the company was even better.

Here are some highlights from the wonderful day!

I like to call this one “Teamwork”

A beautiful grandma with her cute as a button grand baby.

Love this – Avery taking in all the Catania’s for the first time.

This girl is SO gorgeous!

Grandpa and his grandson – love the Catania shirt!

Baby Dom!! So stinkin cute!

Had to put up this one too  – it’s just too sweet not to share.

Baby William and his daddy – with matching tigers hats!

Boys will be boys, right?

Love this one of Kristin and Lincoln!

The “B” family!!

Caught this moment – and I love it.

LOVE – LOVE – LOVE these two of Lincoln and his mama and papa!

Great Grandpa and his SEVEN GREAT grand-kids!

I had to sneak in one too! My wonderful in-laws!

Now one with the “C” family!

Avery’s done with photos – it’s time to play!

LOVE how he’s holding his mama’s hands!

It’s time for sweet little Avery to catch some fish!

Poor little Cami was WIPED out!

Lina up to bat!

Ha! Love this action shot of Anthony!

Nice job Jack! The final blow that broke the Pinata!

Another “B” family!

The Cook-off winners!! Congrats everyone!

EVERYONE! OK Photographers – Don’t make fun of me. I wanted to try and get everyone in the photo, which meant I had to put in Uncle Rich!

Thank you to everyone who made this an awesome day – until next year!!!

Cami {Nine Months}

August 1st, 2010

Yes, if you can believe it, it’s been another three months. Cami, my niece, is nine months old.

The last few times I have been going over to Cami’s parents house to get some photos done of her. This time, we wanted to try something new. Derek and Jen live very close to the zoo so I thought this would be a great opportunity.

It was so nice to spend some one on one time with Jen and Cami. We really did have a good time walking the zoo and gossiping.

Hope you enjoy Cami’s preview!! This was way too hard to pick favorites – I have such cute nieces.

Cami is excited to be at the zoo!!

She was SO interested in everything around her – esp. the fountain!

Such a big girl – standing now!!

Smiling at something mommy’s doing.

Ugh! Those cheeks are just edible!

First time taking Cami’s pictures outside – she loved it!

I LOVE this smirk!

What a happy baby.

Ha. HAD to put this one up – makes me laugh.

Love it.

Standing all by herself!

Love this – she looks (and is) such a sweet baby.

This cute little hat just made my day – I love it.

I mean come on – what the eyes?!

Look at those teeth!!

I love this because it shows how vocal she is now!

In the butterfly house.

Love this – Cami watching all the pretty butterfly’s flying around.

LOVE the bow!! Cami’s got my back here – giving the zoo lady a look.

Seriously Cami, you can’t get any cuter.

You did a great job cutie! Can’t wait till your twelve months (I just hope they don’t come up as soon as these nine months did)!

Thanks again to Jen and Cami for a wonderful day at the zoo!

Julia {Three Years}

July 18th, 2010

I am going to start this post with saying that I don’t think I’ve had harder clients.  This isn’t in a bad way – just a ‘I am your mother and sister and can say whatever I want to you’ way. :) My sister – in – law and my mother mean the best and I love them. Through out the shoot they were telling me to snap the picture (like I wasn’t already). Gotta love them!

Anyways, on to the cuteness. My niece Julia turns three on the 21st (right around the corner). She’s into dressing up like Fancy Nancy (all my gifts to her center around her) and Princesses. She cannot get enough Princesses. She’s either Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty or any other Disney icon. Therefore, most of her outfits where dresses – that’s all she’ll wear. She told us to stop buying pants and shirts because she won’t wear them.

This girl literally lights up my life. I was glad I was able to take her three year photos before her and her sister, along with their mama, go to Colorado for six weeks. I don’t know what I’m going to do without all three of them! Hopefully when they get back we can make a point to get Gabby’s six month photos done!

I hope you enjoy the cuteness that is Julia.

We took all her three year photos at the Cider Mill in Northville – had it all to ourselves!

I love this face.

She’s related to me, therefore she’s beautiful :)

My brother needs to get this child into the movies!

I love everything about this image. So angelic.

Oh Jewels, the little tree huger – Adam is rubbing off.

There she is – peekin around the corner!

Time for an outfit change!

She makes cowgirls look good.

Just chilling, waiting for her horse.

Time to check out the train tracks.

Watching and waiting for the trains.

Love. love. love.

Julia is VERY into singing Part of Your World right now – this is her in action.

Like seriously, what the model?!

Give me some sass Jewels…

This kid has the most beautiful hair.

She was SUCH a great sport that we decided to end things on the playground.

Thanks for being the little Princess that you are Jewels! Love you baby!!

An Honor and A Blessing

July 13th, 2010

This past May Adam’s brother and sister-in-law asked Adam and I (along with Jen’s brother) to be Cami’s God Parents. We were beyond thrilled.  We love this little girl so much and for us to be asked was such an honor.

This past Sunday was the Baptism. It was at Kensington in Troy, MI and it was unlike anything I’ve ever been to before. It was very cool.

Here are a few images from the day (shot on a point and shoot).

Here’s sweet baby Cami waiting for her turn to be baptized!

Here are the parents and God Parents!

Adam and I with the ever so adorable Cami.

Love this face! How stinkin cute is she?!

Oh! Adam and I got our engagement photos done last week and they are on our photographers site (you know, a quick preview that makes you want to DIE to see the rest). Here is one – check out her blog at http://www.acarrollphotography.net/ to see the rest!

I seriously and truly love this man with all my heart.
