Happiness and Love is …
July 6th, 2010Our Family Engagement Party
June 29th, 2010I woke up feeling nervous. What if they didn’t like each other? What if there was awkward silences? What if someone said something wrong or offensive?
Waking up the day of my engagement party, I was nervous. My family and Adam’s family haven’t spent too much time together and I wasn’t sure if things would go well or not. This was seriously a big deal to me. I adore my family. I wanted Adam’s family to see why I talk about my family all the time. I adore Adam’s family. I wanted my family to see why I enjoy them so much.
My brother Dikran and his fiancée Kellie were in town from California and I was insanely happy that they were able to share this with us as well. Unfortunately Adam’s brother Derek couldn’t make it because of work – he surely was missed.
We didn’t do much. We ate (amazing meal), we talked and we laughed. It was enough. It was perfect.
Thank you to my family and my soon to be family. You truly made mine and Adam’s engagement special. We have all of you to thank for that.
I was born with no sisters. Now I have three <3
Mine and Adam’s amazing siblings (minus Derek T.) and nieces.
Here are the people who we owe everything too.
And here, is the love of my life.
Mason and Victoria {Brother and Sister}
June 25th, 2010Here I go again. Telling you how amazingly great my session went today. But seriously, it did. It went way better then expected!
I work with Stephanie at my day job. About a month ago she asked if I would take pictures of her kids – I gladly accepted. We work two cubes down from each other so I am able to see photos of her GORGEOUS kids.
The past few days she had been preparing me for her daughter – the tornado tot (as Mason calls her). She told me that she was a wild one and that she might be pretty tough.
It could not have been more opposite. She came out of the van a bit shy but that quickly went away when I started talking about the ducky in the water.
She went through her outfit changes like a pro and no tears were shed. All in all, it was a pretty perfect session.
I just couldn’t narrow these pictures down. I just did a quick glance and came up with way too many to put on my blog. Good thing these kids are just way too cute!
Hope you enjoy the preview!!
Oh, and just an FYI to everyone – there are more photos of Victoria because this was her two year shoot!
Meet Miss. Victoria.
Meet Mr. Mason.
She was SUPER happy to see the ducks in the pond!
I love that sweet little dress. I am pretty sure I would wear it if it came in my size.
Stephanie has so many great ideas. One as to bring in the easel for Victoria to paint. So cute.
Love. Love. LOVE this image.
Mason has better hand writing than me!
What the sweetness?!
I know it’s different but this is my FAV picture of Mason – just like a boy!
Another favorite.
Love the letters that Stephanie brought with her!
Love this one. So sweet – even with the cat tail ![]()
Loving the expressions here! There goes the first butterfly!
I am almost 100 percent certain that this little girl could be a model.
Mason representing the Detroit Tigers. It was after this picture that he told me he was going to put a spider in my purse (since I jumped at the one he showed me). Thanks Mason!
If someone was looking for the coolest girl in town, she’s right here.
Loving the lollipop idea!
What a good brother and sister!
They seriously seem to really love each other. I don’t think I got a picture like this with my brothers until just recently! These are SUCH good kids!
Here’s one with their nana!
Victoria is such a girl – she LOVES shoes!
Now that is one big lollipop!
Annnndddd… she’s spent. I just love the focus on the shoes with Victoria blurred in the background.
Thank you Stephanie – for allowing me to document your children’s lives for the day. I truly had a blast and it was great to meet some of your wonderful family! They sure kept the kids laughing!
Aimee Grace {Four Years}
June 24th, 2010After we were done taking all the family photos, everyone was able to take a breather – expect Aimee Grace.
She was tired. She was worn out. She didn’t want her photo taken. BUT – she wanted to show me her hermit crabs. This is where Aimee Grace and I connected. Everyone else went inside the nice air conditioned house and Aimee Grace and I ventured outside to play with the hermit crabs.
We took them in the sand box, on the playground, in the gazebo – we even gave them watermelon. Aimee Grace is the perfect little mommy to those little crabs. She is also the perfect little daughter (telling her mom that she was amazing just melted my heart).
Thanks for teaching me all about your hermit crabs and playing outside with me Aimee Grace – even when it was over 90 degrees outside!
I just love this serious look and the pose! A little model in the making!
Like seriously, what the blue eyes?!
I just LOVE this image! How cute is this little girl?!
One of my personal favs of mommy and daughter. They both just look so natural.
Oh. My. Gosh. How cute is this smile?
Here’s the good mama watching over her hermit crabs.
Oh to be a girl and wear cute bows in your hair. Seriously though, this is one lucky girl. Her mom has BINS of hair stuff for her. It’s not like she had five boys and was waiting for a girl or anything!
I just LOVE this dress! Too cute!
A little glamor shot never hurt anyone
.
I think she’s four going on fourteen!
Every little girl has to have lip gloss!
This just might be my favorite!
What a pose! With her legs crossed at the feet and her little purse, love it!
Thanks again to the Kaump family! I had a blast!
The Kaump Family {Family Preview}
June 21st, 2010I met Adam K. when I was a sophomore in college. I have known Cindy since I was sophomore in high school. Last year I was their maid of honor in their wedding. This is where I met the whole Kaump clan.
This is a family of five boys and one girl.
Mrs. Kaump (Adam’s mom, not Cindy) approached me over a year ago to get some family photos done in the spring/summer of this year. She was looking to get them done and was happy that I was able to do them.
I was a little nervous about this shoot because it was going to be the largest shoot I’ve done (nine people). As soon as I arrived the nerves left. Everyone in that family is incredibly friendly and made me feel right at home.
This is only part one of two of this shoot – I also took Aimee Grace’s four year photos (look for that in the coming days).
I hope the Kaump family enjoys there preview as much as I did!!
Here are Adam and Cindy with their little sister!
I just love when moments like this happen.
Just a little sneak peek of the adorable four year session with Aimee Grace.
Austin and Aimee Grace, the two youngest.
The older boys – looking very manly. Side note – I love this picture.
Now one with all the brothers.
Now one with all the boys and Aimee Grace … Aimee Grace’s future boyfriends should be VERY worried.
The whole Kaump clan!
I had to put this up because every time I look at it I laugh. What good sports they were!
Another gorgeous family photo.
I ADORE this one of the boys!
Another moment that wasn’t suppose to happen … and I love it.
This family is SO photogenic!
The next three are great! I couldn’t pick my favorite jumping picture – they were all too good!
This one might just have to be my favorite.
LOVE this. This family is SO fun!!
I just loved all the greenery in this photo! I had to post it!
I seriously don’t think you can go wrong with tall grass.
This is one super cool family!
Kaump Family – Thank you so much for letting me into your home and spending the afternoon with you! I honestly had a blast!
Madeline {Two Years}
June 15th, 2010“Please help me Sara.” HA! Did I care that this adorable little one was calling me Sara throughout the shoot? Not at all! She had me in stitches the whole entire time!
As soon as I met Madeline at the car, I knew this was going to be a good shoot. Her mom told me she was talking about getting her pictures taken the entire way to the park. When I greeted Madeline she excitedly told me about her pretty shoes. A girl after my own heart.
We decided to take the photos at Firefighters Park in Troy – SUPER glad we decided to do this. There were so many beautiful areas where Maddy could run around – and that’s exactly what she did (like any two year old).
She was incredibly friendly and amazingly photogenic, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
I know I say this all the time, but it was SERIOUSLY hard to try and figure out which photos I wanted to display on my blog – there are just too many good ones! I can’t wait for Maddy’s mommy to see them all!!
Enjoy!
And here we go…….
It doesn’t get much cuter than toddlers and flowers.
Oh to be a kid again!
I’m telling you, Madeline was doing all the posing for me!
~Love it~
I think I could photograph kids all day when they are as cute and sweet as Maddy!
Miss. Independent!
What the cuteness?!
Gotta love the long green grass!
I don’t think this kid EVER gets upset – she was happy the whole entire time!
One of my favorites – - SO incredibly sweet!
If you didn’t know, Madeline turned TWO the day before!
Oh Madeline, how can you be so cute?! Another favorite for sure.
I L.O.V.E this image! I think she looks like a little super model!
I think the toothy grins are the best!
I wish I was swinging on the swings right now. Can I please be done?!
Thank you again to Madeline and her mom for meeting me out at Firefighters park! I had a blast! I hope you enjoyed your preview!
Boudoir Session – The First
June 13th, 2010This past Friday I did my first boudoir session. When accepting this challenge I was a little worried. I had never done one before and didn’t want to mess anything up.
When I arrived at my destination and was greeted by two very friendly faces, all my worries were gone. I knew this was going to be a blast.
I personally think every girl should do this for themselves. I think it’s so empowering and fun!
I had a hard time deciding whether or not to put up any of the actual photos because I didn’t know how it would be perceived by my readers. Almost every photographer I know does boudoir and puts them on their blog, but I still wasn’t sure.
That’s why I’ve decided to put only one. I want to respect the privacy of my clients and I want this blog to remain family friendly (even thought the photos are very tasteful).
A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.
Diane Arbus
Kristina, You are BEAUTIFUL! I’m so glad you decided to do this and can’t wait for you to see them all!
Dresses and Brides and Princesses … Oh My!
June 12th, 2010I think it’s been way to long since I’ve talked about my sweet nieces. Well, they came over today and it just so happens that I bought myself a wide angle lens this week. What a perfect time to try it out! I did soon realize that the wide angle really wasn’t needed for these pictures, but it was fun to get to know the lens a little bit. I can’t wait to use it on the family shoot I have coming up next week.
Anyways, Julia came come to the door clutching onto her Nana, so I grabbed myself some super sweet Gabby. She was giving me smiles upon smiles and started to even laugh out loud. This age is so sweet – but I think that about every age.
Julia finally came to her senses and decided to play with the coolest upon cool aunties. We played everything – from the pool to Princesses and Queens all the way to her being the bride … but “don’t tell adam”. We had fun fun fun! I love playing with those little girls – they really do light up my life.
Here are just a few highlights from the day…
First, pool time.
The beautiful bride…
Heart this. Always smiling …
I’m telling ya, I have some adorable nieces.
Ugh. Cuteness overload!
Jewels loves anything to do with princesses, dresses and brides.
If this picture doesn’t scream princess then I don’t know what does! My favorite for sure.
Jewels just thinking about how much fun we had today!
On a side note, I shot an AWESOME boudoir session yesterday! I hope to have a few blog friendly images up later!
Tuesday’s Musings
June 8th, 2010I have a few favorite things to share with all of you eager readers.
The first thing is theknot.com. Calling ALL future brides. This site is amazing! Something new that they’ve added that I absolutely love? The color combination – such a help! All you need to do is choose your basic color – the color you really want to center your wedding around. Mine is going to be brown, so I picked brown and then they gave me all these colors. Who knew all these colors could go together? I love it!
To go completely off topic, one of my guilty pleasures is the show Glee. Tonight ends the first season of Glee and to get us all pumped up, the folks over at Fox decided to give us a sample of what’s to come.
Amazing, right? I could listen to those two all day. Luckily I only have to wait a little over an hour until it’s on!
So, those were the two things that I just had to share with everyone tonight, but before I leave to veg out on the couch for awhile (hey now, I did run today) I will leave you with a beautiful photo Adam took a couple weekends ago. I took the photo and tried my hand at Lightroom 3. It’s a little different then what I’m use to (Lightroom 2) but I think it might be love.
LOVE that Lightroom 3 allows you to put a watermark (easily) onto the images! More to come on that once I get use to it a little more!
Look for some amazing sessions coming up!
Gabby {3 Months-Part One}
June 3rd, 2010I’m not sure if I can even call this a part one because I wasn’t able to get too many of Gabby this past weekend.
Last week she turned three months old and I wanted to capture a few images to remember her at this age (for those who don’t know, Gabby is my niece).
She is teething. Bad. She didn’t want to get her photos taken at all. I’m sorry Gabs. I promise (crosses fingers) that I’ll never do it again.
I’m hoping that we can plan something soon so I can finish (or start) up.
“Maybe if I ignore her long enough she’ll leave me alone.”
This baby sure does have a lot of Cat in her!
I had to take her outside in the garden – it was too nice of a day to resist!
Love this. Nothing is better then those cute little baby cheeks!
She what I mean with the whole ‘I’m going to ignore Auntie Lisa thing?’
Outside was too much of a distraction for the wee one – we tried inside.
This photo will forever and always make me smile.
Uncle Adam was getting all kinds of smiles from her.
Heart.
“Ok Auntie Lisa, that’s enough.”
I hope to have some more adorable three month photos later on this month! I’m sorry Gabs! I hope you can forgive me!
