Kelly and Scott {Just Because}

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

My memorial day morning was perfect, honestly it was. I got to start off my memorial day with the cutest couple on this planet, again, not lying. I was able to spend the morning in one of my favorite places in Michigan – Kensington. I love going there – it feels like I’m all the way up north. It feels like I got away from the hustle and the bustle.

Kelly and Scott met me there to take some photos of the two of them – just because. They are coming up on their four year anniversary and they thought that getting some portraits taken would be a good idea. I couldn’t agree more! I think every couple should do this! Not only is it fun to get all dressed up and have fun in front of a camera, it’s something special that the two of you will ALWAYS have. Purses, clothes, jewelry – lets be honest, they go out of style. Photos? Those last a lifetime. I can’t think of a better anniversary gift to each other.

I hope they enjoy their preview as much as a enjoyed my memorial day morning!

What the cute?

I heart this.

These two are Gorgeous!

Fabulous!

Awesome grass, water, boats – yes please.

LOVE that they brought in wine! Makes the photos so personal!

A fav!

Love the outfit change!

Fell in LOVE with all this greenery!

Another fav!

Ummm seriously? This has a whole lotta fierceness!

Yea, they totally rocked it out in the water.

So fun!

Kelly – you’re gorgeous.

And they lived happily ever after <3

Kelly and Scott – I hope this put a smile on your face and that you can finally hang some (non-wedding) photos of the two of you in your house! Have a fabulous time in Aruba! Happy four year! Here’s to many more!!

A Reflection on 2010

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

I have been so lucky. 2010 was an amazing year for me, both professionally and personally.

First, since I don’t talk very personally on here, let me talk about the amazing year I had in my own life.

I will always remember 2010 as being the year Adam and I got engaged. As I was falling asleep last night that moment came back to me and I couldn’t help but have the most enormous smile on my face. It was far from perfect (I was acting like a child, Adam wanted to fish, I almost broke my knee) but it was us. Everything about that day screamed Adam and Lisa and I loved every minute of it.

The whole trip was beyond anything I could have imagined and we came out of it as a newly engaged couple.

Another amazing part of 2010, the birth of my second niece, Gabriella. She is beyond sweet, cute, lovable - she’s perfect.

Her big sister also turned the big 3 this year!

Adam and I were asked to be the God Parents of Cami – our other niece (yep, we have three).

Beyond all that, it was a fabulous year. My brother from California came for a couple of visits, we got a surprise visit from my cousin in California,  we had an awesome engagement party and a truly joyful holiday. I could not be more blessed to have the people I have in my life right now – in my life.

Thank you to all my family and friends – you all are pretty damn amazing.

On a whole other note, I couldn’t have had a more perfect first year of photography. I had SUCH amazing clients – and they liked me!!! I love taking photos more then anything BUT a big part of doing what I do, is meeting so many different people. I have been blessed with the clients who’ve become part of my life this year.

This year, I did three weddings – Woo Hoo!

The first up were Kevin and Leah – they will forever and always be my first solo wedding.

My second wedding was Emily and Shareef – A truly amazing couple who made me feel incredibly comfortable.

And my last wedding of 2010 was the day after Christmas for an old classmate – it was a blast to catch up and be a part of her special day.

I met some FABULOUS soon to be brides and grooms.

Forever Young Enterprise {Business Session}

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

This past weekend, right after the shoot I did before this, I did a business session. I jumped at the chance to do this because not many of these come along. I do a lot of families and weddings (which I LOVE and am passionate about) but it’s nice to try new things and broaden my portfolio.

Greg, the vision behind Forever Young Enterprise, is SO out-going and incredibly personable. You can tell that when he has his mind set to something, he’s going to do it. He is making his dream a reality with setting up Forever Young Enterprise.

In his own words, “Forever Young Enterprise is an organization that provides scientifically proven information on diet and exercise that will empower and enable our clients to efficiently burn unwanted fat and build lean muscle mass.  With our program you will learn the most effective way to develop the body you want without calorie counting or spending countless hours exercising each week.  You can gain the results you want with as little as 30 minutes of exercise per week.”

30 minutes of exercise per week? Yes please! Sign me up!

And although age is only a number, Greg is 62 (I just had to point that out before you all saw the photos).

Meet Greg

Among some of his equipment.

The next couple are of Greg and the punching bag (love these).

Love this action shot.

Seriously, watching him was making me tired!

A favorite from the day.

I don’t think 20 year old’s have these kind of muscles!

His program is definitely not just for older men, it’s for all genders/shapes/sizes.

Working on Abs

Had to get some shots of Grandpa and his Bella!

Bella getting in on the workout :)

Thanks to Nicole for recommending me to Greg (her father) and thanks to Greg for giving me this opportunity! I hope to see you all in the future! I might even give you an email about training me for my wedding!

Just a Reminder …

This is Michigan.

We get to live here.

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.

Welcome to my World D700

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

I was sitting at work all day Tuesday wondering when my D700 was going to get dropped off at my house – watching my phone to see if my mom text me the news.

Then it happened. I got the text. I had to wait 3 more hours until I could hold this beautiful piece of equipment. When I did, I was pleased. It’s just as beautiful in person as it is on the internet.

I haven’t had any shoots in the past two days so today I took the camera across the street and took a few photos.

For all the sessions coming up – watch out – the D700 is here!!

My beautiful ring <3

A friendly neighborhood dragonfly.

I was also testing out some Kubota presets I bought the other day – I have to work with them some more, but I like what I see so far.

Summer Winds …

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

If you didn’t get a chance to step outside today – you have no idea what you were missing.

Today are the days outdoor living is made of.

Today gave Mickey another opportunity to chase those pesky bunnies away.

Mickey caught in the act. Even the bees had to stop and smell the roses. I will desperately miss my mother’s garden in the winter.

Happy Beautiful Day to all of you!!

Black and White Photos – Gotta Love Them

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

I have always been a fan of black and white photos. This is actually something my mom and I disagree on. She doesn’t understand it. She lived in a world where at one point that’s all you were able to get – black and white. Now, there’s color – actually, a lot more then just color. She wants to take advantage of that. I, on the other hand, want to live in the past.

Black and white photos create moments. It doesn’t go well with every photo, but when you get it right – it’s magical.

Here are some of my favorite black and white photos that I took in the past couple of months.

This ended up being one of my favorite shots from Gabby’s new born photos.

I love how black and white can take a moment and back it that much better.

It can take something so nature and turn it into something so beautiful.

Something simple turned into magical.

A moment that truly feels captured in time.

Something cute and sweet into something mysterious.

I do have a lot more favorites but I figured a sample was enough. I’m not going to lie, I love that fact that I have a choice.  Black and white photos are magical BUT I wouldn’t want to live in a world where we couldn’t capture the color as well.

Boudoir Session – The First

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

This past Friday I did my first boudoir session. When accepting this challenge I was a little worried. I had never done one before and didn’t want to mess anything up.

When I arrived at my destination and was greeted by two very friendly faces, all my worries were gone. I knew this was going to be a blast.

I personally think every girl should do this for themselves. I think it’s so empowering and fun!

I had a hard time deciding whether or not to put up any of the actual photos because I didn’t know how it would be perceived by my readers. Almost every photographer I know does boudoir and puts them on their blog, but I still wasn’t sure.

That’s why I’ve decided to put only one. I want to respect the privacy of my clients and I want this blog to remain family friendly (even thought the photos are very tasteful).

A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.

Kristina, You are BEAUTIFUL! I’m so glad you decided to do this and can’t wait for you to see them all!
