Dan and Becky {We Will: Engagement Session}

September 25th, 2011

I find myself very lucky to get recommendations from past clients. This session was just the case – the wedding (and maternity below) I did with Travis and Kim went so well that I got asked back from the family to do Dan and Becky’s engagement session and next year, wedding. Dan is Kim’s older brother and I could not have been more excited to get to spend some time with this family once again.

We went to downtown Plymouth and hit a bunch of different areas – they were up for anything!

I can’t wait for their wedding in April!

Yea, they are pretty adorable.

Got to love old theaters.

<3

Yea,  I just loved how fun this one was :)

A favorite – Becky will have to get a new jersey soon!

Loving the rail road tracks lately!

Way too cool.

What a blast they both were to work with!

Can’t wait till April!

Thank you Dan and Becky! I had a blast walking around and finding out more about the two of you in downtown Plymouth – can’t wait for the wedding!

MSU Pompon Team!! {Michigan State University}

September 15th, 2011

I feel so lucky that I get to come back every year and do the Michigan State Pompon team’s photo shoot. I am a 2007 alum from the best school in the world and it makes me proud that I get to come back and shoot on a campus that I can honestly say is the best (better than alllllllll the rest).

We had a fabulous time checking out different parts of the campus and stopping here and there to shoot. I had the best second shooter/assistant/bestest friend/Pom team alum ever to accompany me on the trip. I was completely and utterly worried that we were going to get rained out BUT it held off and we had a BEAUTIFUL day!!

I can’t wait till next time! Enjoy the preview!!

Show some of your Spartan Pride :)

Kelly and Scott {Just Because}

June 2nd, 2011

My memorial day morning was perfect, honestly it was. I got to start off my memorial day with the cutest couple on this planet, again, not lying. I was able to spend the morning in one of my favorite places in Michigan – Kensington. I love going there – it feels like I’m all the way up north. It feels like I got away from the hustle and the bustle.

Kelly and Scott met me there to take some photos of the two of them – just because. They are coming up on their four year anniversary and they thought that getting some portraits taken would be a good idea. I couldn’t agree more! I think every couple should do this! Not only is it fun to get all dressed up and have fun in front of a camera, it’s something special that the two of you will ALWAYS have. Purses, clothes, jewelry – lets be honest, they go out of style. Photos? Those last a lifetime. I can’t think of a better anniversary gift to each other.

I hope they enjoy their preview as much as a enjoyed my memorial day morning!

What the cute?

I heart this.

These two are Gorgeous!

Fabulous!

Awesome grass, water, boats – yes please.

LOVE that they brought in wine! Makes the photos so personal!

A fav!

Love the outfit change!

Fell in LOVE with all this greenery!

Another fav!

Ummm seriously? This has a whole lotta fierceness!

Yea, they totally rocked it out in the water.

So fun!

Kelly – you’re gorgeous.

And they lived happily ever after <3

Kelly and Scott – I hope this put a smile on your face and that you can finally hang some (non-wedding) photos of the two of you in your house! Have a fabulous time in Aruba! Happy four year! Here’s to many more!!

My First Session – 35 Years of Bliss

April 22nd, 2010

I started getting really into photography at the start of 2009. I had worked at a studio a few years back but knew I wanted to be my own creative genius. I also knew that I didn’t want to be just a  studio photographer – I wanted to also be an on location photographer.

That’s when I decided to buy my first DSLR. It was my baby. I loved it.  I loved the images I got out of that camera.

I was shooting everything that I could, until I got a bright idea. My parents 35th anniversary was coming up and I wanted to give them a session to remember that special day.

We headed to Mill Race in Northville but sadly to say it was closed due to a wedding. This was my first lesson – always call before going ANYWHERE.

Luckily there are many beautiful places around Northville and we were able to get some great shots.

Now, there is a big frame in their living room displaying their favorite images and whenever I walk past it I am reminded of my very first session with the people who mean the most to me.

Here are some of the images captured that day. I do and edit things a bit differently now. I feel like I am growing with every session and it’s wonderful to be able to track that.

Squallhyme Beautiful pictures Lisa! I am in LOVE with the fourth one down. You can really see the love that has lasted so long. You are lucky to have such beautiful locations to take photos within a short drive!

BFF – Tim

April 16th, 2010

Tim and I have know each other for a long time now. We went to high school but then parted ways once college came around.

He now lives in NYC but I’m lucky enough to say that I talk to him almost everyday (thank goodness for AIM).

He didn’t want me to take his picture – at all. He doesn’t approve of any of these at all but I still wanted to show the world my best friend Tim!

This kid… what a crack up.

Love this one!

Love is …

April 7th, 2010

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13

A Mother’s Prayer…

March 27th, 2010

God, give me wisdom to see that today is my day with my children.
That there is no unimportant moment in their lives.
May I know no other career is as precious
no other work so rewarding
no other task so urgent.
May I not defer it nor neglect it.
But, by Thy Spirit, accept it gladly, joyously, and by Thy grace realize
that the time is short and my time is now,
for children won’t wait!

Here are two photos of my sister-in-law and her newborn Gabby.
